ABOUT

Sam Finch is a St. Louis, Missouri based nonbinary illustrator pursuing their BFA in Illustration at Webster University. Sam is involved with installing local art exhibitions at the Webster University Cecille R. Hunt Gallery and has had their work featured in the St. Louis Art Museum’s 2021 Young Artists’ Exhibition.

Sam is inspired by the expression and brightness of late 90’s and early 2000’s cartoons like Looney Tunes and Teen Titans, and uses line and color accordingly. Sam’s illustrations explore gender dysphoria and lesbianism, body horror, nostalgia, mental illness, comedy, and how technology interacts with these subjects. Within their work, Sam wants to evoke feelings of unease, only slightly reconciled by the humorous and bright forms the subject matter takes. Or maybe they’ll just draw a goofy little guy!
